Scenework with Side-Coaching by Adrian

How are you approaching scenework? What do you focus on when you’re in the middle of a scene? How do you find the fun thing in a scene, when you’ve lost it?!

The easiest way to get better at scene work is intentionally focusing on it without distraction of your show format or short form game (or “earning a song” in your new improvised musical!). In this drop-in class we’ll cover identifying what’s important in your scene, what type or scene you’re doing. We’ll focus on supporting the scene, your scene partner, and yourself. And best of all, Adrian will provide clear, simple, side coaching to keep you following the truth and the fun of your scene.

About the teacher

Adrian Vazquez has been teaching improv (and side-coaching!) since 2005 because he loves it. You can see him in monthly improv shows like Party Onward, a fully-costumed D&D adventure, Knockoff Broadway, a spontaneous musical, and Puppets & Comedians which doesn’t need an explanation. If you come to a show, stick around afterward and say hi! He would love to hear your big thoughts about improv, acting, comedy, truth, connection, utopias, etc.
