Stand-Up Comedy Intro Class with Joe Klocek

Have you ever thought about going to a stand-up comedy open mic? Do your friends or co-workers tell you that you’re funny? Are you curious about what the world of stand-up is really like? This four-week class is a great place to start. Taught by one of San Francisco’s most respected comics, it will cover basic joke structure, trying material out at open mics, an introduction to the networking business side of comedy, booking yourself, the importance of social media, and staying focused on achievable goals.

The class ends with a show where each student invites friends, family, and co-workers to cheer them on and see what they have accomplished. The class is fun, fast-paced, and excellent for first-timers or comics who feel like they might be a little stuck.

The particulars

Cost- $200 per person. Must be paid in full before first class. No refunds for missed class time.

Day of the week -Saturdays, February 3rd, 10th, 17th & 24th

Time - 1pm - 4pm

About your instructor

Joe Klocek has been a stand-up comic for 30+ years. He has appeared on Comedy Central, Last Comic Standing, and was an on-screen commentator for the local Emmy award-winning documentary, The Bridge So Far.

He has been a runner-up in the San Francisco International Comedy Competition and the Seattle Comedy Competition. In 2017, he spent two months in Shanghai as an Artist in Residency at mainland China’s first regular comedy club.

Currently, Joe has two monthly shows happening in San Francisco’s two major comedy clubs. Joe Klocek & Friends happens each month at the Punch Line, and Joe’s Stand-Up Comedy Game Show, GET IT!? Happens each month at Cobbs Comedy Club.

Joe specializes in well-written material that ranges from social commentary to growing up but he is best known for his amazing crowd work. No two shows are ever the same!
